Elise Campbell – Horn

Elise Campbell is a London-based freelance horn player, who was previously the co-principal 3rd horn of Scottish Opera from 2014-2016. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Distinction grade Master of Arts degree in 2013, having previously graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Music Degree. Whilst studying, she learnt with a full scholarship under Richard Watkins, Michael Thompson, Martin Owen and Roger Montgomery. Prior to this she was at the Junior Academy, learning with Simon de Souza.

Elise is currently on trial for the 3rd horn position at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the principal horn position of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the sub principal horn position of Northern Ballet. She has had previous trials with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been freelancing with some of the major London and UK orchestras and ensembles across the past three years. These include the London Sinfonietta, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the English Sinfonia.

Other commercial and session experience includes playing on the soundtracks for films such as “The Hobbit” and “Les Miserables”, and has recorded with Ed Sheeran and Florence and the Machine. Elise has performed numerous solo recitals and concertos across the country and is a keen chamber musician; other than Total Brass, she has also worked with the Nash Ensemble and London Winds.
