Jason Lewis – Trumpet

Jason is a twenty-seven year old trumpet player from Wales. He studied the trumpet at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for four years with Philippe Schartz (principal trumpet BBC NOW), gaining a First Class Honours degree.

He has recently been on trial for sub principal trumpet of the BBC Philharmonic, and for SubPrincipal trumpet of the Ulster Orchestra. Jason has previously held the position of Principal Trumpet with the European Union Youth Orchestra and also gained a position in the Verbier Festival Orchestra for their 2015 tour.

By the age of eleven, Jason was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales., and at thirteen he passed Grade 8 on both cornet and trumpet with distinction. At fourteen, he successfully auditioned for a place on the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, and gained a place at the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra Academy studying under Rod Franks and James Watson, making him the youngest member.

Since graduating from College, Jason have been working as a freelance trumpet player with orchestras including: BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Philharmonia Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
